Training Log – Week of June 23, 2025

With monsoon moisture in the forecast, I knew that this could be an off week for mileage. My daughter also left for camp this morning at 9:00, so I decided to just do a rest day walk. That idea didn’t last and I ended up running!

Training Log - Week of June 23rd, 2025

Monday June 23rd, 2025

I walked a mile this morning as my “rest day” activity. But then I got antsy and went out and ran this afternoon in 90 degree heat. It was fine and I survived!

I had stopped to take this photo of the Three Sisters Volcanoes when a group of high school runners came by. They were followed by multiple other groups. I am thankful that it was my turnaround because it would have been embarrassing to have been passed by all of them!

Very off day on my run this morning. Not sure why but maybe I just needed a break in the these high humidity days.

Although it doesn’t look like it, this mornng’s run was much better than yesterday’s run. I decided to walk the first three-quarters of a mile and then do no “Jeffing” the rest of the time. It was much better both physically (getting my body warmed up by walking) and then all running after that.

It is about as “lush” as it gets in Albuquerque with the monsoon rain followed by days of heat and abundant sunshine. We have more monsoon rain on the way for next week to keep it green, too!

Saturday June 28th, 2025

Started the day watching the Western States start and then continuing to watch it as I did 25 Minute Speed Train Week 1 Day 6. It is different having a 7-day-a-week program, but the workouts have been great.

The Piedra Lisa Trail in Albuquerque is one of my least favorites, but it was where my daughter Grace and I started hiking in the summer of 2022. We didn’t go as far as we did on August 6th, 2022, but we got up to 7,971′ even though much of the trail looked like this!
