My Training Log for the Week of July 14th, 2025 starts with a post about a new dirt and road loop that turned out to be challenging and beautiful. It brought back great memories of running on Thursday mornings with a group of local ultrarunners. We met at Steve Mahieu’s house and did a loop on trails in the Sandia Mountain foothills. He was the winner of the Leadville Trail 100 in 1991 and had many other top places in ultras back in those years according to UltraRunning Magazine.

New dirt and road loop that was challenging and beautiful!
Tuesday July 15th, 2025
A figure eight in the foothills passing under Tramway and heading to the man-made pond, and then looping back on other trails that criss-crossed in the center.
Wednesday July 16th, 2025
Pavement, grass, and dirt run with the second half of the run singletrack, which is my absolute favorite.
Thursday July 17th, 2025
Run on singletrack with some “vert” (219′ to be exact). An out-and-back from my house, and so blessed to have a trail a minute from my house!
Friday July 18th, 2025
Mostly flat for the first 25% of this run, and then the next 25% was uphill. I listened to the Mountain Outpost coverage of the High Lonesome 100!
