Training Log – Week of July 28th, 2025

My Training Log – Week of July 28th, 2025 starts with no DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) since I only did a rest day walk on Saturday. It was a pleasant change from how Monday runs usually feel!

Training Log - Week of July 28th, 2025

I started doing something new this morning, hoping to counteract the effects of aging. I am so tight and inflexible that I thought that I would try making myself stretch by adding it into my runs. After running about half a mile, I stopped and stretched. Then I ran for another half mile and stretched. The final stretch was with about a mile to go, and it definitely made a difference in terms of overall pace.

Not in a good head space with too many flashbacks but this too shall pass. Cloudy morning with monsoon rains today and forecast for most of the week.

I drove to a nearby park and it was so worth it. About half pavement and half dirt, with 191′ of elevation gain and a beautiful view of the Sandias from a bridge over the Bear Canyon arroyo.

Thursday July 31st, 2025

An out-and-back from my house on my Strava 10-Year Anniversary! The run was 1:03:39 with 230′ of elevation gain.

Friday August 1st, 2025

I parked near Calvary Church and ran down to the Albuquerque diversion channel to head north toward Balloon Fiesta Park. Clear view of the five volcanoes to the west on the mesa.

Saturday August 2nd, 2025

A rest day walk to the grocery store and a ruck back, and hopefully a strength workout later.
