Training Log for the Week of August 18th 2025

My training log for the week of August 18th starts with what I am calling an active recovery run just to get the endorphins! I ran from home and through a local park, and this photo shows natural vegetation that gets “sky water” (a nod to Native American cultures) and the grass that can be maintained with daily watering.

I don’t want to risk going into endorphin withdrawal, so I run every day that I can. This run was slow but beautiful and was active recovery for Monday.

Tired this morning but running is great therapy and a time to think and listen. To start in the cool of the morning, and because I am in the Old Testament, I listen to the day’s reading. I finished Jeremiah, and tomorrow I start Habakkuk (the reading plan follows a historical order of the books).

It was a lot of work running in a sandy arroyo to get to the perfect trails in the foothills, but it was well worth the effort!

Thursday August 21st, 2025

I walked for 34:00 to this point and then continued east, except running, to the turnaround and ran the rest of the way back. My legs are very tired from running seven days a week, so today, I came home and made a protein shake and drank it.

Arroyo singletrack after leaving a nearby park. This turned out to be the extent of the dirt that I ran as I changed my route, and sadly, even ended up running on some sidewalk ☚ī¸

Saturday August 23rd, 2025

Another adventure in the bosque, this time on the west side of the river and the ditches that protect the Village of Corrales. The water is very low, but I did spot a couple of pretty big snapping turtles along the way!

Sunday August 24th, 2025

I actually started with a 20:00 hike with 259′ of elevation gain and then started my run on trails, heading north, west, and south to make it a loop. I am so glad that I didn’t slog up for a mile and then down like I had planned!
