My Training Log for the week of October 6th, 2025 started with another Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta mass ascension. Hopefully the balloonists will have a good week of flying and the spectators with have a good week of watching!
Monday October 6th, 2025
Hundreds of balloons went up again this morning and stayed in the valley, but I spotted two that ended up near the volcanoes. They must be awesome to see from a hot air balloon!
Tuesday October 7th, 2025
I’ve been dealing with fatigue for weeks, so this morning I went to urgent care because my primary moved and I don’t have a new one yet. It’s amazing how healthy my body is but it must be missing some nutrient that they will find out about in blood tests. Just a short run east this morning since far fewer balloons went up to the west.

The building in the bottom center in the distance is Intel in Rio Rancho. When I moved out here almost 30 years ago, it was the place to work but I passed up the opportunity for some unknown reason…
Thursday October 9th, 2025
The first thing that we saw when we got to Balloon Fiesta this morning was this cement truck inflated and about to take off. It only kept getting better from there!
Friday October 10th, 2025
Yesterday, we were on the field with this balloon. This morning, from the diversion channel trail, I watched in the distance as it took off, turned toward us, floated near us, and then landed in a little league field right next to me!
Saturday October 11th, 2025
We had some rain this morning in advance of the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla, so the Balloon Fiesta mass ascension was canceled. I finished the last workout in the Beachbody Yoga Studio 5-Day program and then went for a run. It almost looked wintery on the crest, even though I’m sure the temperatures must have been in the 40s.
Sunday October 12th, 2025
The last day of Balloon Fiesta and the last mass ascension was canceled. It was still a beautiful morning running in the Rio Grande bosque.
