Training Log – Week of April 28th, 2025

The plan for the week of April 28th includes 5 runs and 2 strength workouts with one strength workout during the week and one on Sunday.

Monday April 28th, 2025

Since I read that Strava and Runna were joining forces, I got a Runna account, and it is providing workout guidelines. I did a .75 mile run warm-up and then 8 X 400 (with a brief recovery) around the Academy loop.

For years, I did an out and back to this turnaround with a friend of mine that I trained with. He was World Junior Cross Country Championship and competed against Steve Prefontaine and I had the pleasure of running with him for years!

With an HRV of “2” I probably should have determined whether that was an anomaly or a true reading. I did most of the workout on the Runna schedule and it didn’t go well, but I was outside on a beautiful morning and it was worth every minute of it!

Thursday May 1st, 2025

My HRV was back to “8” this morning, but my Runna plan calls for a day off today. I only ran to the grocery store and back to get peanut butter and black beans and to loosen up my legs a little.

Friday May 2nd, 2025

Gut biome is out of whack and feeling quite drained all the time. I couldn’t miss such a beautiful pre-moisture sky so I went up to the foothills and got some good photos os the mountain and clouds.

The Alameda Open Space was packed with people who had parked there to enjoy the bosque. I crossed over the old Alameda Bridge, which is now a foot bridge, and ran in the bosque on the west side of the Rio Grande. Even though that is a trail less traveled, I saw a friend, Stephen Pino, and his training partner running there!

I finished the 5th (Get Stronger: Abs) of the 5 workouts and got the Badge. I see that she wore the Polar OH1 again which is good. It is a big plus that BODi has onscreen heart rate tracking and all of the trainers should be wearing a Polar transmitter since they are all compatible with BODi workouts.
