My training log for the Week of May 12th starts with a mobility workout from Get Strong with Kelsey Heenan and a lot of stretching to get the soreness out of my legs from yesterday’s run.

Day 6 of the Total Body Strong workouts, with just four Targeted Strength workouts left to finish the program!

Only three days left as a homeschooling dad and I got a head start on my new schedule by leaving to run at just after 7:00 am!

An air quality alert in Albuquerque from the Greer Fire in Arizona. The smoke is visible on the mountain but I didn’t really notice any impact from it otherwise.
Thursday May 15th, 2025
Running mostly on the roads this morning, and amazingly, did not power hike once for the first time in a very long time. I ran at 7:30, with a temperature of 52 at the start and had 174′ of elevation gain.
Friday May 16th, 2025
I’ve checked my heart rate variability for 1,061 days in a row and often ignore it if it is a “6” or even a “5”. I knew at half a mile that my body was saying don’t expect much but I kept going for the joy of being outdoors and also starting “The Pursuit of Endurance” by Jennifer Pharr Davis. I ended up running a very slow loop in just over an hour.
