Training Log for the week of September 29th, 2025 got off to a slow start but hopefully it will build as the week goes on. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta officially starts on Saturday with the Albuquerque Aloft (Breakfast with Balloons) event at elementary schools on Friday

No need for my favorite shady spot on this run anymore, but I enjoyed it one last time this morning!
The flag is at half staff on the Latter Day Saints Temple for the passing of President Nelson and the victims of the attack in Michigan.
I ran an out and back on the west side of the Academy path and was treated to an awesome display of running talent as a few dozen New Mexico Track runners were doing the loop at sunrise.

My older daughter and I spent a couple of hours walking around the Albuquerque Bio Park Zoo, and there were a lot of interesting animal behaviors on display. That hippo literally walked out of the water, nudged the sunbathing hippo to get up and it did and went into the water. I, too, would do anything that hippo wanted me to do!

Balloons set up and launched from 91 elementary schools in Albuquerque this morning for Albuquerque Aloft, known at the schools as Breakfast with Balloons.
Saturday October 4th, 2025
Everyone in Albuquerque is disappointed when our visitors to Balloon Fiesta have an event canceled, like this morning’s first mass ascension. But the safety of the pilots and passengers always comes first.
Sunday October 5th, 2025
This morning’s mass ascension from Balloon Fiesta Park more than made up for yesterday’s cancellation. Not only did a lot of balloons go up, but they were up for a couple of hours. Amazing!
