Training Log for the Week of August 10th 2026

My training log for the week of August 10th is almost a carbon copy of the weeks before it, mixing runs, hikes, and walks to get to 30 miles a week. My schedule is dictated by whether my daughter’s dog is staying with me, as to whether I can run or not. When I have her (from Saturday evening to Tuesday morning), that means walks and hikes only on those days.

Monday August 10th, 2026

Mondays mean a morning and an evening dog walk. The two together totaled 3.71 miles, which is a little short of the 4 miles a day that I aim for.

Tuesday August 11th, 2026

A dog walk before my daughter comes to pick up Maggie, then no run afterward on a very hot morning. I did do an evening walk, but the two together only totaled 3.05 miles.

After confirming that mixing Performance Energize and Tailwind was safe, I did a test run in the Corrales Bosque. It was a good test run on another warm morning, and I got in a 10K on trails

Thursday August 13th, 2026

I got in an out-and-back run east from the house in the morning and then a walk in the evening. The two workouts together totaled 5.24 miles.

Once a week, my older daughter and our dogs go for a hike. All summer we’ve been heading to the Rio Grande so that the dogs can swim, too. Sadly, it is mostly dried up, but we did find places for them to go in the water and cool off.

Another test of the Performance Energize and Tailwind combination, and not full strength this time because I wasn’t going very far. It was another successful test along the Corrales Lateral, and I got in almost 6 miles total (5+ running and almost a mile walking to the Rio Grande and back at the end, looking for a place for our dogs to swim).

Sunday August 16th, 2026

Back down to Corrales, in the Rio Grande Valley, to walk my daughter’s dog, Maggie. I wanted her to experience the paths that I ran on yesterday and enjoyed so much.
