Training Log for the Week of June 29th 2026

My training log for the week of June 29th, 2026 starts with the two “rest day” walks with Maggie the Dog that are my new training plan. My daughter and Maggie have a hike in the bosque planned for Wednesday, and we’ll see if I can put in another 30-mile week to keep my streak going.

An almost sunrise walk with Maggie the Dog and then another beautiful evening walk with her.

We finished the month with a sunrise walk, and then after my daughter picked up Maggie, I went to Academy Hills Park and did a few loops.

My daughter and our three dogs did a Rio Grande bosque adventure, but this time over 15 miles north of last week’s adventure. We hiked along the Riverside Drain Trail and then went east into the bosque so that the dogs could swim in the Rio Grande.

I started at the Corrales Bosque Trail parking lot on Andrews Lane and headed toward the Rio Grande. This is the closest access (.25 miles) of all, and the same spot we usually go to (except on the west side of the river). In the first image is one of the Three Sisters Volcanoes on the west mesa.

I switched things up this morning and did a hike instead of a run. I need the strength in my legs without the negative feedback from running uphill for almost an hour. I have only done three runs this week, but if I can get my daughter’s dog to run, I could add to that total. It didn’t go well the first time that I tried!

Thankfully, today is a Maggie the Dog walk day with an early walk in the cool of the morning and an evening walk to see the sunset.
