My training log for the week of July 6th is continuing the same pattern that I have been doing for almost two months. On Monday, I still have my daughter’s dog, Maggie, so I can’t run. My daughter comes straight from her overnight shift at the hospital and picks her up at about 7:45. I’ve already taken her for a walk and given her breakfast and as soon as they leave, I go for a run and the pattern keeps repeating.
Monday July 6th, 2026
Two walks with Maggie, always totalling around 4 miles, and even though the morning walk was uneventful, there was a beautiful sunset.

Tuesday July 7th, 2026
Last walk with Maggie until Saturday evening and then running loops on a .33 mile paved path at a park. I should be doing track workouts there!

Wednesday July 8th, 2026
Hike with my daughter and our three dogs in the Corrales Bosque. We headed north for swim number one in the Rio Grande and then headed back south for swim number two with the dogs!

Thursday July 9th, 2026
Too hot to do a foothills run with no shade but I went anyway. I almost cut the run short but made it to the turnaround to be rewarded with a rattlesnake experience. Two women alerted me to it being on the trail and I spent the next five minutes watching it and taking pictures and a video. What an extraordinary encounter with a beautiful creature.

Friday July 10th, 2026
I got overheated on the hike on Wednesday when we were along the river while the dogs swam, and yesterday when I did the no-shade out and back into the foothills. I chose a route this morning that had some shade, so I wasn’t about to go into the open space with that strong sun. I took this picture and headed back home!

Saturday July 11th, 2026
I drove down to the Corrales bosque and parked in the parking area on Ella Dr. I ran north in the shade along the dry acequia and turned back at 2.07 miles. On the way back, I found a way to get across the dry ditch and head toward the Rio Grande. I also found a great place to take the dogs next week to swim in the river!

Sunday July 12th, 2026
My running week is over, and my dog walking week begins. Each walk, including one last evening, is about 2 miles. These two were looking east in the way we are headed and then looking west as we head home.
