Training Log for the Week of July 20th 2026

Back on track this week after an off week last week. A slightly different pattern of workouts because of my daughter’s work schedule. I still got in over 30 miles of running, hiking, and walking and that continues a streak dating back to week of May 10th.

Monday July 20th, 2026

I am continuing the pattern of walking as a warm-up and then running back. It is either a concession to the training volume and having sore legs or a concession to age (I will go with the former)!

Tuesday July 21st, 2026

Three workouts today with a walk to warm up, a run back, and then an evening walk with my daughter’s dog Maggie.

Wednesday July 22nd, 2026

Maggie and I did a hike in the Corrales Bosque in the Rio Grande Valley. It’s to explore for a future hike with my daughter and her two dogs. In the evening we just did our usual hike up to and around the park.

Thursday July 23rd, 2026

My daughter works three night shifts at UNMH, and in order to be able to take an annual nursing exam, she had to change her schedule. After Maggie and I walked, she came after her shift and picked her up. I did a solo walk in the evening.

Friday July 24th, 2026

Because of my daughter’s changed schedule, we couldn’t do our usual Wednesday adventure, so we did it today instead at the Rio Grande in the Corrales Bosque.

Saturday July 25th, 2026

I went down to the Corrales Bosque again to walk to the river as a warm-up, and then to run. I had no idea that there had been torrential rain upstream and that the river had risen almost three feet. Getting to the river was impossible because of the mud and debris. In the evening, Maggie was back and we did our walk to the park and back.

Sunday July 26th, 2026

Today is a rest day, and I don’t need that many miles to get to 30 for the week. All of those miles will come from walking Maggie in the morning and evening.
