My training log for the week of September 7th, 2026, followed a 35+ mile week of running, hiking, and walking – my third highest week this summer. I am definitely carrying a level of fatigue, but mentally, I want to keep the miles up because our weather could be wet soon with the onset of the Super El Nino.

With my older daughter’s schedule changed for two weeks, she picked up her dog Maggie after I walked her this morning, and I headed to the Corrales Bosque to run.

Tuesday September 8th, 2026
The heat during yesterday’s run left me drained today. It was 82 when I started the run yesterday and 89 when I finished. I just did a sunrise walk and a sunset hike.

Wednesday September 9th, 2026
I went down to Corrales to do another run before Maggie came back, and I wouldn’t be able to run for three days. She and I did a walk in the evening,

Thursday September 10th, 2026
Maggie walks and hikes from now on until Sunday morning, but I am still getting in miles – just slower.

Friday September 11th, 2026
Such a somber day on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Maggie and I went to the Albertsons on Tramway, I got a few things, we hiked up to just over 6,300′, had a picnic, and then came back down. We did a walk in the evening.

Saturday September 12th, 2026
Maggie and I went down to the river, and she saw her favorite horses, her favorite alpaca, and we went to check on the river. The Rio Grande is holding its own and I am sure can’t wait until we get moisture from the Super El NiƱo, which should be coming next week.
