Training Log for the Week of September 14 2026

The week of September 14th comes after a 41-mile week of running, hiking, and walking, which I may not have had for at least 15 years. As I got closer to the end of the week last week, I sensed that I might comfortably reach 40 miles, and I did and surpassed it. Now, not to get greedy, and to just see how this week evolves.

I wanted to exercise common sense, so I went to the Open Space behind John Robert Dam (where Ed Galbraith parked when he “disappeared” people like Jesse Pinkman) and hiked. Beautiful view but zero of the shade that I have been used to. I also got in a 20:00 BODi workout in the afternoon.

My older daughter and I took the dogs to the Corrales Bosque so that they could see horses and Maggie could get up close with the alpaca that she has been having staring contests with from the other side of the ditch. We got in just over 3 1/2 miles.

Wednesday September 16th, 2026

It was Dollar Day at the New Mexico State Fair, and my older daughter and I went even though it had been raining all morning. The skies cleared, we saw everything, and I got in over 15,000 steps.

I went down to Corrales again to look at a house for sale and found out later that it might have been lived in by drug dealers. The run was mostly dirt but there was a downhill section on West Meadowlark that was road. Maggie and I did a walk in the evening.

Maggie the Dog and I did an out and back to the Open Space by the Latter Day Saints Temple. The sun caught the Sandia Peak Tramway cables just right to see them almost from top to bottom.

Saturday September 19th, 2026

I decided that today would be the day that I ran with Maggie the Dog for the first time. We did a one-mile warm-up walk, a 5K, and a one-mile cool-down walk. She was awesome! This is her sitting in the shade after she finished!

Sunday September 20th, 2026

We ran on the same ditch path in the Corrales Bosque this morning, but we started about a mile north of where we started yesterday. Beautiful cool morning with overcast skies and Maggie was all into running again!
